This associate is mainly responsible for proofreading but also maintaining database information accurate. The Proofreader and Product Data Administrator will help with the management of translation requests.

Duties and Responsibilities

Proofreading

  • Participate in proofreads in InDesign final French brochures, flyers and other Marketing and corporate materials.
  • Seeks out all necessary information relevant to proofreading assignments.
  • Finalizes translation assignments by inputting necessary corrections.
  • Reviews corrections with the French Translations and Product Data Manager and the internal third-party Prepress group.

Wordbee

  • Helps with the management of translation requests in Wordbee, the CAT system used by Avon (administrator role to support the Translation Manager, accepts client requests, assigns tasks, finalizes translated files, consolidates translation memories, delivers work to clients, maintains and updates terminology databases and translation memories as needed, and provides support for users).

Product Data

  • Ensures the timely maintenance of product data in the Devex product database, which feeds the e-commerce site and multiple SAP applications (imis).
  • Enters data for all new products, in English and French, using the information provided by the Senior Translator, Packaging and from other sources, making sure to correctly fill all appropriate fields and prioritizing products with upcoming launches.
  • Corrects errors and omissions in the database according the reports and issue notifications received from various sources.
  • Ensures the correct data is reflected on the French e-commerce website.
  • Accesses the Devex product database as well as other available references and tools to obtain the French equivalents necessary to complete certain translation assignments.

Qualifications
    • Must have a Translation Certificate (leading to a university degree) or the equivalent.
    • Must have three years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in a translation department would be a definite asset.
    • Must possess the ability to seek out and coordinate detailed information from a variety of sources.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Communications, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as an excellent knowledge of both French and English are required.
    • Must meet prescribed standards and successfully complete Avon’s French test.
    • Must have excellent proofreading skills and be very meticulous and able to pay attention to details.
    • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
    • Proficiency with MSOffice and InDesign as well as with CAT systems.
    • Strong priority and time management skills.
